Unplugging Sukkot

Leviticus 23:33 – 43

33 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
34 Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘On the fifteenth day of this seventh new moon is the Festival of Sukkot Booths. for seven days to יהוה.
35 ‘On the first day is a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work.
36 ‘For seven days you bring an offering made by fire to יהוה. On the eighth day there shall be a set-apart gathering for you, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to יהוה. It is a closing festival, you do no servile work.
37‘ These are the appointed times of יהוה which you proclaim as set-apart gatherings, to bring an offering made by fire to יהוה, an ascending offering and a grain offering, a slaughtering and drink offerings, as commanded for every day –
38 besides the Sabbaths of יהוה, and besides your gifts, and besides all your vows, and besides all your voluntary offerings which you give to יהוה.
39 ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh new moon, when you gather in the fruit of the land, celebrate the festival of יהוה for seven days. On the first day is a rest, and on the eighth day a rest.
40 ‘And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of good trees, branches of palm trees, twigs of leafy trees, and willows of the stream, and shall rejoice before יהוה your Elohim for seven days.
41 ‘And you shall celebrate it as a festival to יהוה for seven days in the year – a law forever in your generations. Celebrate it in the seventh new moon.
42 ‘Dwell in booths for seven days; all who are native born in Yisra’ĕl dwell in booths,
43 so that your generations know that I made the children of Yisra’ĕl dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim. I am יהוה your Elohim.’ ”

First Night Fall In.

Crackling of the wood

Daddy long legs walking by

Woodland noises heard from afar

How Beautiful to grasp this time

Warmth radiance

In the midst of the dark surrounding us

All we see is the Light dancing around

As we listen to the Scriptures being read

Oh. What a tranquil site. In Sight.

With matching Sound.

Tudah Abba for Your Delight,

Today I decided to share my personal experience in keeping Sukkot this year – not so much focus solely on the scriptural view of it but more so the reality of it. One of the things that I find very interesting around this time of year. When speaking to brothers and sisters the fall seasoned loved by many also brings moments of tribulations and uncertainty.  You can almost see the shift and feel the changes in the air for some. Ironically called the “fall” in this nation, yet becomes the time for gathering for ours.

This year leading up to Atonement and Sukkot I had yet again became ill. I forced myself on a daily basis to strive to make commitments to speak with my love ones and continue to go to work. In my exterior I would appear somewhat alright, however within physically and emotionally I was going through a trail, and I could see I was not alone.

Being Hebrew and keeping the commandments is not as hard as being part and witnessing the Hebrew community…

As the day of Atonement approached increasingly I would witnessed how the community would begin to tear themselves apart. Some boasting of the fact that they are feeding the homeless – which I don’t find wrong sharing because it can serve as motivation and understanding for some however boasting is different, boasting of wearing sack-cloth, others bickering about it must be done with purple thread, others still boasting that the type of horn that is being blown if its not a Rams horn others are deemed unrighteous or sinning? – yet can we not lift up our voices? The dates! Don’t get me started on the dates to keep the times. Double sided remarks while trying to show those who may not know the light while shedding ashes on others who try. Why?

Every year seems like its the same thing, because we don’t learn to remain humbled and understanding.

The Day of Atonement one of if not is my favorite set apart day. On this day I was actually quiet stricken, at looking our nation as a whole. From the lows to the highs, to the blind to the one with sight, the sleep, the sheep, the wolves, and the one so called woke. So many of us fool ourselves proclaiming to be wise, yet right after this day of covering we still will refuse to speak to certain brothers or sister. Why? Why is it that we only seek to cover one another when told, yet not on a daily basis as it should be done so. Do we really seek each-other in love? Who are we to sit on high? believe me I speak to myself as well. Do we look after another for the benefit or the other not of self? Do we understand how the well being of the other benefits ourselves..

Can our brother and sisters come to us at anytime? Do you know them? My Aysh said   We should do Life together, not just Know Of them.

On Atonement my Aysh and I where studying when we came to a realization so simple that we’ve missed before about the date. We took the time to study that our affliction is a way to connect ourselves not only to the Father but to ourselves. From this I kept in mind how  humbling it was to see error in my ways because it allows for correction and growth. Reminding me that I am not perfect but strive to be Set- Apart. Leaving room for error welcomes growth.

If you believe that you have a everything figured out and are correct in all that you do comfort set’s in and leads to pride, because you no longer are seeking of the Father but of one selves..We must strive to remain humble and be mindful of how and when we harden our hearts.

This stuck with me through Sukkot reminding myself to stay humble. I have not been at my peak, I made errors and the father still keeps me as well as our nation. And here I find myself boarding the plane and getting ready to keep my Sukkot, not for the first time but for the first time live with my new myshpakah (family).

Dew Eastwardly

To get here it was not easy

But worth it

We struggled to decide on our final local

Oh but was it worthwhile

YHUH made the way

Disconnect, taking in the air

Breathe the Dabar/word of YAH

Realize, through your eye’s that what you see

That was not built from you nor me

Realize that all that you see

Is the WORD of YAH

So He spoke and it was.

From the clouds, to the birds, to the tree tops

To Dust.

So it was. -Good.

Delivering Us.

Morning Oatmeal

He called it his Set-Apart Oats

I wouldn’t argue it I never had those

reluctant at first I thought to myself

Mangoes? Within those?

YAH provides indeed he Did.

Best Oats I had since.

 SShhh don’t tell him.

The Connection

We have been institutionalized to fear what is natural

Deception in our sight

Find comfort retrieving inside

but why?

If you take care of me

I take care of we

Mother Nature

He Flooded the earth

For Me.

Not a Bee. That I Know.

I’m not sure what it was.

Took the time to captivate,

Took the time to pollinate,

Took the the time to function on its own,

Spreading pollen to it’s unknown

Spreading Seeds.

That one day would take it’s root.

To be pollinate

by the Future Generation

– Not Bee

Because Panamanians Make Rice & Beans wherever we go.

A bit of comfort food away from home.

If you want to know someone’s culture.

Study the Food.

Just think about it.

We where commanded to eat

the Fruit of the Seed that bears it’s own.

This allows for Sustainability

Eating Clean is not a burden.

It’s part of the way the Most High Intended it to be

You See

The fat,

The Mad

The I wish I didn’t eat that

The Clogs from the Hogs

Poor Arteries

The Massive Heart Attacks

One way to test your mental strength

Restrict something that you’d normally Eat

Many don’t understand how Physically and Mentally impactful

Eating something bad can be

Challenge Eat Clean

And witness your own bodies.

Natures Throne

Build by the Don Himself!

Look at man vs natures Ingenuity,

Take A look, second look,

At what could,

Use to be,

May one day

Le Nature Squat point 2 Oh

Pit Stop

Such Beautiful woodland scenary

In parts see the whole small town view paid homage

Riding along side the river banks

Learn some bikers language

Feel the sunshine through the leaves

Stop and go under the trees

Test your patience with three Teenagers

Test your balance with one hand on the bike

While the other holds the phone

Yes this trek was beautiful indeed

Fourteen miles of bike trailed hauled

But Beloved

My lesson on this Ride,

Don’t forget the sweets

For when your glucose slips

After this ride I found my love

For Sierra Cliff Bars

Because making it back.

Was nothing short of

Getting it Just Right

There’s a method to the madness

I promise

You don’t want bottomed burnt cold food

Its  not good for me nor for you

Witness the Chef of the house

That’s love

Taking Care of his Families Livelihood

Even if all he hears

-Is it done yet.

Oatmeal Bathings

Test your pride

Test your strength

After He took us to the truck stop this was it

Even before this night

We Bathe on the Riverbanks

One wash up

The other one guards

Black Bear County

I hope they don’t like

Oatmeal Bars.

Humbling experience to say the least

I actually miss.

Sweet Fragrance

Reminiscing of the time.

As I write Sukkot has already passed

I continuously think back to the time

How even then I could of done better things

Reminiscing on my role

Thinking about how it must have been

Living life for sometime in the wilderness.

How must it have been to led out of

And Here we are again.

What we failed to do is remember

To Humble ourselves and keep HIS

Quick clip showing parts of what we walked through and experience in our Sukkot. If you kept it, think back to it and remember the lesson’s you may have learned when keeping it. Many times we only focus on the now, what’s immediately in front of us. Forgetting of the time’s hence why the Father many times commands us to “Remember” to guard.

Because if you forget

You may mis-direct

Your Next Foot-Step.
